CJDT-Happy DTing is based in the Kent area of the UK and provides Design Technology lessons, workshops, afterschool clubs, insets and DT Project Packs to both schools and home ed communities. Covering many areas including: Structures, Mechanisms, Energy, Resistant materials, Mouldable Materials, Graphics, Textiles, Designers, Electronics, CAD/CAM and Systems & Control for EYFS/KS1-KS4 (3-16 year olds.) I am a fully qualified DT teacher and have been lucky enough to teach right from Preschool through to A’level/Sixth form.

Construction Kit Club
6 sessions long
Each session is 1hr 15mins
Age - suitable for 5 to 15 (sessions will be tailored for the age of the group booking)
Over the course of the 6 sessions the children will have a chance to build with various construction kits, each session focusing on a particular skill eg mechanisms, structures, bridge building as well as problem solving and patience.
Prices start from £36 per child for the 6 sessions.
Construction kits used will vary depending on the group, but will include either k’nex or Kid K’nex for the younger children.
Parents and carers attendance and help are needed at all sessions. For health and safety parents will need to sign a consent form before children are allowed to start the sessions.

Mechanisms - Cam Toy
6 sessions long
Each session is 1hr 15mins
Age - suitable for 7 to 15 (sessions will be tailored for the age of the group booking)
Depending on the age/ability of the group each child will make a cam toy from either Techcard or wood after first learning about various mechanisms eg gears, pulleys, levers and cams, to the appropriate level.
Prices start from £60 per child for the 6 sessions.
Due to the nature of Design Technology and the tools involved, parents and carers attendance and help are needed at all sessions for health and safety and will need to read and sign a consent form before children are allowed to start the sessions.

Aviation - Planes and Rockets
4 sessions long Each session is 1hr 15mins
Age - suitable for 7 to 15 (sessions will be tailored for the age of the group booking)
Learn about Forces, Friction, Gravity, Energy, Predicting & Fair testing through:
* Designing and making paper rockets, test flying them (outside weather dependant) with a launcher that can fire them up to 100+ foot depending on your design.
* Making and adapting parachutes from various materials, seeing which work best.
* Making paper planes which will then be launched using a machine that can launch them at speeds of up to 80mph.
Prices start from £40 per child for the 4 sessions.
Due to the nature of Design Technology and the tools involved, parents and carers attendance and help are needed at all sessions for health and safety and will need to read and sign a consent form before children are allowed to start the sessions.

Such a fun evening! Thank you to all the lovely ladies that came to #cjdthappydting ‘s first ladies night and helped make it a great success! The final makes were fantastic (& very adorable!) And I can’t wait to do it all again in the not too distant future.
3D Printing for beginners - 6 week course
September 2022
Ever wondered how 3D printing works? Would love to have a basic understanding of it? Like the idea of making your own creations? Then this is the course for you.
Use the skills covered just for fun or to help advertise your small business, designing key fobs or pencil pots.

The basics of 3D printing are covered in this set of six lessons, including:
•What 3D printing is about, how it works and some of it’s uses.
•The materials/filaments used for printing and learning about what can go wrong.
•How to make your own 3D printing designs using various CAD packages as well as looking at 3D printing online libraries.
•Have some of your 3D designs made including a lithophane photo.
•Look at different ways to decorate your 3D prints and then have a go, including doing a spot of spray painting.
Spaces are limited and booking is essential. Comment or message for full booking details. Places are only secured once payment has been received and is non refundable if less than a weeks notice is given before the start of the course. If for any reason a lesson needs to be moved/cancelled all participants will be informed and an alternative date will be given.
